Food Security

Nourishment Program

Three days a week, we serve breakfast and lunch to 65 seniors — providing reliable, culturally appropriate nutrition to elders. One of the largest Tibetan elder feeding programs in the United States.

Why This Program Matters

Food insecurity among elderly immigrants is a hidden crisis. Many Himalayan elders live on fixed incomes, face mobility challenges, and lack access to culturally familiar foods. For seniors who grew up eating tsampa, thukpa, and momo, mainstream meal programs often feel alienating.

Our Nourishment Program provides home-style Tibetan and Himalayan meals — not just nutrition, but cultural comfort. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday since January 2012, our kitchen has served breakfast and lunch to 65 seniors, creating a reliable anchor in their weekly routine.

Feed an Elder

More Than a Meal

Our meal program is more than food security — it is the anchor of our entire community. The dining table is where elders reconnect, where news is shared, where friendships are maintained, and where isolation is broken three days every week.

Every meal is prepared with culturally familiar ingredients and traditional recipes. Our volunteer cooks are community members themselves, ensuring that every dish carries the taste of home.
