Three days a week, we bring elders together for yoga, meditation, Buddhist studies, Zumba, art workshops, and more — addressing health equity through holistic wellness while combating the isolation so many seniors face.
Himalayan elders face unique health challenges — from the physical toll of displacement and aging to mental health impacts of isolation and cultural disconnection. Many lack access to culturally sensitive healthcare, and mainstream wellness programs rarely account for their linguistic, spiritual, and physical needs.
Our Community Wellness Program bridges that gap. Held three days a week, Monday through Wednesday, our gatherings provide a welcoming space for seniors to engage in Buddhist studies, yoga, meditation, Zumba, and art workshops — all led by volunteer instructors from within the community, in languages our elders speak and understand. Just as important as any single activity is the socialization — for many elders, these three days are the highlight of their week and their primary connection to community life.
Gentle yoga, Zumba, and guided exercise sessions designed for elderly participants — improving mobility, balance, and energy in a fun, supportive group setting.
Buddhist teachings, guided meditation, and communal prayer sessions that nourish the spirit, reduce anxiety, and honor the traditions central to Himalayan culture.
Drawing, craft, and creative expression sessions that give elders a way to share memories, stay mentally active, and discover new sources of joy and purpose.
Above all, our gatherings combat isolation. Sharing meals, stories, and laughter three days a week keeps elders connected — to each other and to their culture.
Peer support, group connection, and access to culturally competent mental health resources when needed — ensuring no elder faces their struggles alone.
Annual retreats and periodic outdoor trips — organized picnics, nature walks, and group travel for elders who lack the resources to go on their own.
Our wellness programs run year-round, providing consistent, reliable support that elders can count on. Participants report improved mobility, reduced feelings of isolation, and a renewed sense of purpose and community connection.
By delivering wellness programming in a culturally familiar setting with instructors from the community, we achieve engagement rates that far exceed mainstream senior programs — because our elders feel seen, understood, and respected.
