Extending our mission beyond borders — we support homes for the aged and infirm in India and Nepal, providing resources, funding, and organizational support to partner institutions serving Himalayan elders abroad.
The Tibetan diaspora is global, and so is the crisis of elder care. In Tibetan settlements across India and Nepal, aging populations face severe resource constraints. Homes for the aged operate on minimal budgets, often without adequate healthcare, nutrition, or facility maintenance.
HEP's Global Elder Care Initiative channels the resources, expertise, and compassion of the diaspora community in New York to support partner institutions abroad — ensuring that Himalayan elders are cared for regardless of which country they call home.
Direct funding to homes for the aged and infirm in Tibetan settlements across India and Nepal, supporting daily operations, nutrition, and healthcare costs.
Sharing operational knowledge and best practices from our New York programs to help partner organizations strengthen their own elder care capacity.
Leveraging our diaspora network to fundraise, collect supplies, and rally community support for elder care institutions across borders.
Building relationships with similar organizations serving elders internationally to share resources, coordinate efforts, and amplify collective impact.
Our international work reflects a core belief: caring for elders is not bounded by geography. The same grandmother who might be served in our Queens program could just as easily be in a settlement in Dharamsala or Kathmandu.
Through this initiative, we connect the prosperity and resources of the diaspora community with the urgent needs of elders in the homeland — creating a cycle of care that spans continents and honors the Himalayan tradition of respecting those who came before us.
